The Slow Mail Society

Privacy

Last updated: July 3, 2026

The Slow Mail Society is a sole proprietorship behind a family of mail-based brands and the membership on this site. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Each brand also keeps its own policy with any brand-specific detail, linked below.

What we collect

  • Membership on this site. When you take a desk, we collect your email address (used for our passwordless sign-in, so there is no password to store), the lessons you save and your progress through them, and anything you choose to add to an optional public profile.
  • Mail-club subscriptions. Each club collects what it needs to write, print, and mail its letters: typically your name, email, shipping address, and the content you choose to share for your letters.
  • Payment. Card payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.

How we use it

We use your information to deliver your letters and membership benefits, to manage your account and subscription, to send you necessary messages about your account, and to answer you when you write to us. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers who help us run the Society: Stripe for payments, our hosting, database, and email providers for the site and its sign-in messages, and printing and postal services for the physical letters. They may only use it to provide those services to us.

Your public profile and settings

A membership profile is private by default. If you choose to make a public profile, you control what appears on it from your account settings. You can change what is public or private, or remove your public profile, at any time.

Cookies and analytics

We use a small session cookie to keep you signed in. Any analytics we use are privacy-friendly and aggregate only; we do not run advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

Children's privacy & COPPA

The Reindeer Post is a service for children and collects a child's information, supplied by a parent or guardian, so Santa can write a personalized letter. It is operated in line with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA): child information comes only from the account-holding adult, is never used for advertising, is never sold, and can be reviewed or deleted by the parent at any time. Read the full COPPA commitment and privacy policy. Our other brands and the membership are intended for adults and do not knowingly collect information from children.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information only as long as we need it to provide the service and meet legal and accounting obligations. You can ask to see, correct, or delete your personal information at any time through our contact page. Tell us the email you signed up with and we will help.
